Recently I had drinks with someone that worked at Fiverr which I had not heard about until then. Yelp has provided discoverability, both good and bad, for many lifestyle businesses like restaurants, shopping and recreational sites. But there hasn't been a real winner in the services area with the exception of Craigslist, which is still the old classifieds model, and maybe TaskRabbit.
Fiverr is an interesting cross between Thumbtack, Task Rabbit and Etsy. All services start at only $5 with subsequential add-ons like preferred shipping or advanced customizations costing more. There are all kinds of offerings though the bulk seem to be writing and tech related. I recommend browsing their iOS app which is more fun to use than the website.
