Poetic Cosmos of the Breath, Tomas Saraceno, 2007. Photos by David Cottridge.
“Poetic cosmos of the breath” was installed in London’s Gunpowder Park at dawn. A crowd of 40 people formed around an enormous, iridescent foil that was pinned to the ground with sandbags. Throughout the morning, the giant foil was gradually filled with warm air which caused it to rise up slowly. The bright colors of the foil morphed and intensified in the light of the rising sun. Amazing.
Argentine Tomás Saraceno is recognized for his fantastic architectural proposals, pneumatic sculptures, and environmental installations. Trained as an architect, Saraceno’s experimental practice expands the conventions of art, architecture, and science.
