My first visit to Seattle was great albeit a tad cold. Well freezing cold actually. Despite the sunny weather, Green Lake was forming a thin layer of ice and nothing short of wearing three layers could keep me warm. But it's a beautiful city even in the winter. The actual downtown urban area is quite small with most people living in the surrounding suburbs. Too small of a city for me but definitely a place I'd like to visit again especially in warmer seasons.
Overall a mellow weekend hanging with Ann, Saurabh and the kids. I made animal pancakes, talked a lot about Cars with Rohan, pushed strollers in the park (I know, gasp!) and watched in horror as Devon tried to feed himself with both hands every hour on the hour. All the touristy stuff I did in under two hours with drive by photos of the major sites. I had a momentary lapse of judgement and abandoned Ann on Pike street for beef piroshkies and candid shots of hula hoop man. Heh, soooo worth it. On Saturday, Ann graciously planned a girl's night out so I could escape from kid-weekend cabin fever. A great time until the conversation steered its way to breast feeding and baby napping. Apparently everyone at the dinner table was a mom except for poor, single Kimmie. Thankfully I was not tortured with mommy talk the entire evening and we ended on a high note with glasses of champagne and hugs for happy returns.
